Do you pick low competition keywords, first build authority or just publishing and adjust from the data?

A mix of all three works best. Start with low competition, High intent keywords to build early traction, create topical authority around the niche, then use real search data top refine and expand. SEO is not about guessing the perfect keyword, Its about learning from what the audience actually responds to.
most often i would not choose any specific strategy but would simply write about several different topics first, check which ones would be interesting to people nd then concentrate my efforts on those. as there is no real infformation about the blog’s performance before its creation, it makes sense to get that information after the blog is started.

In the beginning i focuses more on selecting a subject matter where i can performs better than those who were currently ranking. when a couple of blog posts starts generating some impressions i know where to goes from there.
The subject matter was of mcch more importance to me than simply targeting key words because if my initial posts gets gd signals then i will be on track to continue.
it is better to validate the demand first than to try nd establish authority. what i normally do is identify some targeted topics that have an intent behind their search, create content around those topics nd see what google picks up. this helps me understand which way i should go.
I focus on low competition high intent keywords where there is a good opportunity to rank. After the first few articles start picking up impressions i check the search data to understand which topics and queries are gaining traction. Then I use those insights to improve existing posts, cover the topics in more depth, and expand into related keywords that make sense for this site.

Focus starting with low-competition keywords, publish consistently, and then adjust based on actual data. Building authority happens gradually alongside it.

I usually start with lower competition topics and build from there. Once the site has some content and data, it becomes easier to see what's actually getting traction and adjust the strategy, iwouldn't focus too much on authority before having something worth ranking.

Low competition keywords are no longer interesting because it's tough now but quality content is more important with all the shitty ai slop ou can find in articles now

I would take a mixed path. First, I would look for keywords with less competition so posts can start showing up sooner. I would publish on a steady schedule. After that, I would check ranking results and traffic to see what is working, then I would move toward tougher keywords. In my view, authority grows while you keep publishing, not before you begin.

The same goes for me. In my opinion, it is better to conduct validation of demand, competition in the SERPs, and monetization possibilities before creating something. Sometimes, just a couple of hours of research can save you several months of hard work.
