Hey all. Hope you all had a nice Christmas.

What's your method of finding good hashtags? And which ones do you use?

I get low impressions from the ones I use and I want to up my hashtag game.

I usually use 2-3 (1m+ tags), 3-4 (500k+ tags), and 3-4 (under 500k tags).

Welcoming any tips. Thanks!

Quick Tip, Look into the explore page and see which hashtags the top post has at the moment within the niche your in, if your about to make a post, reuse those hashtags and see how well it does.

I used to post the same hashtags to my pictures but I noticed that the impressions went down. Now I always post different hashtags for every picture and I noticed that I always get at least 500-1000 impressions minimum. I think changing hashtags is important for some reason.

Yea I should mention I should use different hastags often (I have about 11-12 groups of 10 #tags each).

I do use ones that my other colleagues in my niche use too.

Maybe hashtag impressions are usually just lower compared to the other analytics (explore page, other, etc).

I went to my competitors IG posts, and copied a few hashtags from each of them, and have around 15 for each post. Been getting me pretty good amount of impressions and likes so far.

Exactly. I'm not a huge social media person and don't have too much time to spend on getting the posts together and research in the hashtags, so knowing what's working for my competition saves me work and I just go from there. I'm sure over time I can change it up to optimize my hashtags, but getting the results I want for now.

The most recent thing we started doing is randomizing the tags on a Google Sheet. We took 300 tags related to our niche and spit out 10 randomized sets of 30 at a time for scheduling posts. We normally delete from 3 to 6 tags, which leaves around 24 to 27 per post. Not sure if this is helpful or not, but at least it's changing stuff around. It's really dumb that IG lets you use 30 tags per post, but then penalize ("shadowban") some accounts that use all 30 or a lot of them. I smell Zuckerberg all over it.

That's actually a cool idea. I can see that if you have the same 30, and generate a combination to test, you could track it all to see the performance to find the best combo. Didn't know abouut the 30 hashtags and possible shadowban. I'll stick to my 15 hashtags :anyway:

I usually use between 3 and 5, in varying number. I found it helps with my impressions.

Agree, change your hashtags around. I try doing 15+ hashtags in the past posting to different accounts and got shadowban. I think on popular accounts, they can get away with posting same hashtags (20+) for like 5 post and get away with it.
