Whats your f/uf conversion rate?

I've heard people talk about a 50% conversion rate, in other words follow 100 users and 50 users follow back.

I'm not getting anything near that. I've been tracking for a few weeks now and I get about 16-17% conversion rate. My account is a personal photography account.

Wow that's awesome! Would you mind giving some more details on the account? Like how many followers you currently have? What solution are you using to find people to follow? Right now I just pick someone thats in the same niche as me that has 100k+ followers and I follow their followers.

Use the same sources you are but look through the people who have commented and liked on the most recent posts so you get active people. Also try the 1-2 punch method. Find people who have more followings than followers go to their page, like most recent post, scroll down and like a post from a few weeks or months back, then give them a follow. What this does is not only show them your interested but it will show them 3-4 notifications from you and they will be more curious to look and see who are and give a follow back.

Id highly doubt that.... you're saying for every 100 people you follow 75 follow back on an everyday basis?

No I don't follow 100 people per day, just around 10-20

Got shadow banned before for doing it too much so scaled it down.
The reason the % is so high because I target people who follow a bunch of similar accounts as mine already and do 2-4 likes plus a comment.

I think you would get more followers by doing more mass method but I don't want to risk getting account shadow banned again so just taking a cautious approach.

So to recap

1) look at similar accounts
2) look for small personal accounts that follow alot more than they are being followed (like 500-2000 following)
3) interact with their photos,comment , etc


Also one thing to note is my account is very area specific, so people following it are likely from the area as well. Think like "backpacker California" etc

Yours is an average growth rate. Not extraordinary but definitely not bad.
Nevertheless, as you are a photographer, you have an obvious advantage over other users that don't have this skills in a mainly visual platform.
Remember an image it's worth 1000 words.
