I have a bounce rate of around 50-55% as well, but the troubling number for me is session duration. I feel like most people only watch one video, then leave as opposed to browsing the catalog.

Yeah...it's a very saturated niche, but one that I'm passionate about so the work doesn't bother me. Monetization hasn't been too great, but recently I revamped my entire SEO strategy and re-titled/adjusted keywords on all of my videos. Once my pages are re-crawled, I'll see how I rank for keywords and go from there. What niche did you jump into?
