What's your backup plan if Reddit bans all NSFW content?

What a chaotic day! Reddit's automated bug incorrectly banned and then unbanned a large chunk of NSFW subreddits including subs over 100k. Its a reminder that Reddit has the power to shutter NSFW content at any time.

18 US states have passed laws requiring ID checks for NSFW websites. Pornhub doesn't want to collect driver licenses and opted rather to block access to those areas. What if Reddit feels the pressure and ban all NSFW subreddit? Before you say it can't happen, remember that NSFW content can't display ads so it's all cost and no profit for Reddit. Reddit has shown they are willing to do massively unpopular things if it makes them more profitable.

What are your plans?

I don't work with that, but wouldn't X (twitter) be a good alternative?
 
Your argument that it is all cost and no profit is absurd and represents a fundamental misunderstanding of customer acquisition. People come for the porn, and stay for the rest of the content on the site.
 
I would say take a look at Tumblr. they were very popular years ago and removed all nsfw content and their traffic dropped massively and never really recovered. im sure there were other issues but I believe that was a major one.

However it is still possible that is why its always best to have a few different traffic sources, maybe take a look into making some twitter accounts.
 
Change “if” to “when” because it’s coming. It’s why I only take SFW clients and run my own SFW projects on Reddit.

The only question is if they are going to make a spinoff site that’s completely NSFW. Just my opinion but I think that’s the way it’s heading.

X (Formerly Twitter) is the best if the other way is banned.
 
Reddit will never ban NSFW content, they would lose half of their users.
