Whats your average opt in rate for your email list?

What would be an average opt in rate for a good looking squeeze page, a decent freebie to give away and targeted traffic?

Are we talking as low as 1-5% or higher? What would be the average open rate of emails when people are on your list?

I can't find this information anywhere, I've looked around the forum and others, but I'm guessing it must be somewhere. Any help appreciated.

On some of mine I'm getting 20%+ offering freebies. That's from targeted traffic from my jv partners.

Depends on the traffic source but on average I get a 40%-70% conversion rate.

70% is off the scale, but possible with freebies (and it depends what you measure - and where from)

Best bet is to write a report or guide. One that people who come to your site are likely to actually WANT - not just some crap to fill 4 pages of PDF.

Make it short and sweet (unless it's a REAL complex issue, then 2000 words and half a dozen images is plenty)
Remember to add links to your site and affiliate offers.
Make it look nice (photoshop a book cover or their are tools for $10 that will make a nice looking book cover for you)
Stick it on your site.

Generally, IF YOUR TRAFFIC IS GOOD (relavent, targeted not just any old visitors) then 5% is minimum, 12% is excellent.
If you are giving something REAL away - that has recognised value outside your site, then the sky is the limit. I've seen 70% before - but everything has got to be right, traffic, site, content, offer... the lot. One kink in the chain and that figure can half in a heart beat.

As others said, it really depends on 1) traffic source 2) relevancy of offer based on 3) targeting.
You can go down to 0,1% if those factors are not well-blended. On the other side you can go up to 20-25% if those factors are well-tuned.
That is my experience.
