For a little while now I've known of a little website called AppSumo.com. It's like a curated Groupon for entrepreneurs offering a variety of tools, software, and freebies.
Over the years I came across a freebie deal or two but never really took the time to actually spend my own money on a product...until this Black Friday.
I purchased two lifetime subscriptions (one for Plutio and another for Lemlist) and after researching tool benefits, competitors and related pricing, I figured I'd give it a shot.
Plutio is a complete dashboard for managing clients and it seems to have a lot of similar features to software like Asana (which is also much pricier).
Lemlist is an cold email outreach tool similar to Mail shake and Groove (except again without the monthly cost).
Why did I buy these tools?
1. I'm a big fan of automation tools tools that can help increase productivity and save time.
2. Since I'm starting a marketing company - Plutio seemed perfect for freelancing and managing clients.
3. Integration - Both programs offered various integrations like Google Calendar and Stripe.
4. Lifetime access to the product at reasonable cost vs. monthly costs that can add up.
I did notice a few pitfalls of App Sumo that I also wanted to mention:
1. The website is very "MARKETY" and while a great number of products may seem extremely useful, you have to weigh out whether you're actually going to use the product.
2. Because some of these products are very new there is a level of uncertainty and risk involved. You never know if the app you bought from App Sumo will be around in a year or two. Because of this the ability to export all of my data out seems essential.
So I'm curious what everyone else's experience is with App Sumo. Do you love it? Hate it?
