Hey Guys

I want to move to VPS from shared hosting
After searching i found that best VPS providers are Digital Ocean,Linda and VuLtr
But i have no experience about managing Unmanaged VPS
So what is your advice to me ?!
Purchasing Managed VPS from hostgator, Bluehost or any EIG network
Or Hiring someone to manage the unmanaged VPS ?!
Or start to learn about VPS Managing ?!

Thanks

IF it was me I would start off with a Managed VPS server just until you get the hang of it. You can look in the market place here there are a few good offers to pick from.

I have recently moved from shared hosting to Digital Ocean VPS. At start it is quite difficult to understand things. I watched 9-10 YouTube tutorials, open 1-2 threads here and I learnt enough to use VPS. In terms of speed and cost vps is better.

If you want decent support you are better off going with some one that is not big, like the other person mentioned choose some 1 from bhw market place, ask them what type of support they provide in managed, skype / tv support t & you are good to go.

Those other managed support, they wont come to tv or chat with u in skype to clear ur doubts always, most of the time its ticketing, even if you got skype support, u will be ignored mostly & get rare answers after few days. ( from what i know ).

I am fine with bluehost and hostgator chat support .. taking sometime to understand their English But totally they are so helpful

Buddy. It's tough to send links. Since you might face different issues. Just search "how to set up WordPress on Digital Ocean" you will get your answers.

Just one recommendation: To transfer wordpress site use Migrate Guru plugin. It is easy and fast.

In that case, just choose the one that gave u the best support & go with them, you will eventually pickup how to set things up on own.

like sushant mentioned, its also easy to set things up on own, if u r just going to run wp, easiest solutions are
https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-install-vestacp-and-migrate-user-data
With vestacp & centos panel, you get the options of cpanel for free & things will be easy to setup. i especially use vestacp for clients that need easy mail management.

- Digitalocean + vestacp
- Digitalocean vps + centos panel
- apache + php + mysql
- nginx + php + mysql.

For migrating wordpress this also is good.
Code:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/all-in-one-wp-migration/

What about Security ?!
Is it safe from attacks ?!
What package would you suggest for me if i want to host 3 of my sites getting around 20 k visitors per day ?!

Use the marketplace on DigitalOcean to install panels in one click and read up tutorials on how to configure any panel you choose. Easy.

I maybe wrong but you should deploy 3 different VPS for 3 different websites. Don't keep all eggs in one basket :anyway:
You can do server side security. Use Cloudflare for attack security.

I am tagging @Festinger he is expert in WordPress. He might help you more here.

If you want easy and faster way you should hire him to do it for you.

In my experience, All in one failed 2-3 times during migration.

Vestacp is secure, but if you are talking about ddos, you should just use cloudflare, dodos is covered by from the hosting side too, they provide u with like 100gbps shield etc. but you dont need those, if some tries to ddos you, you can just switch to im under attack in cloudflare.
Also you can set firewall, security level to High always & set underattack only when some one tries to ddos u. ( ddos usually occurs for my users with movies site, cos their competitors act in a pathetic way if they loose in google dance :D ). for normal sites it rarely happens.

I cannot help you with those packages cos i donno about ur usage.
like example
- check ur current bandwidth used for last month & 2x that in bandwidth if its not unmetered connection. ( vps will b metered in some places ).
- Also the space, choose wisely.
- if i choose i would go with digital ocean, $20 pack with atleast 4gb ram. ( 2gb ram pack is also cool, its ur choice )

I still think, you should go with a smaller host that provides better & faster support, bhw market place guys are trusted, mods will only approve the trusted threads.

You need to choose a hosting provider who's datacenter is geographically close to your target audience. Also a host that is fairly close to you, since you'll be the one accessing the hosting the most.

Geo location is not that important. That could be that your provider is located next door to your target audience and at the same time deliver poor connection speed because of network providers and roots. And provider located somewhere overseas can deliver better speed.
IMO that worth to start your own testing and based on results chose the provider .

Make sure you're capable of doing the work invovled if said VPS hosting is NOT managed.
I've known a lot of people to blow money on a month of service and never managing to get past a bash prompt.
Know your host, know your limitations. I do offer config services, but that doesn't mean I'm biased.

Well, what exactly do you want to do with said VPS?

Vultr and digitalocean are pretty expensive tbh. You can get much better deals if you go for a classic vps (unless you need the fancy features they come with)
Keep in mind that lots of learning is required if you're new to server administration.
