it was a few months old post, it’s already indexed when I open guest post and check manually link s there, but when I check in ahrefs it’s lost

If that is the case the issue could be with the tool. Have you tried any other tool?

Maybe bug... You can ask Ahrefs FB group.

Tim is ready to answer your question.

I think ahref working with Google gsc.

I think only option contact ahref .

I think most services use scrapping from browser but services like ahref big boys use the api of google so ahreff will see shit as the gsc down.

My opinion any way .

Ask your client to manually check links and do not get panic.

In the last 2-3 months Ahrefs is not so good. Mistakes every day.
I have moved to Sem Rush

You should check it manually or contact with Ahrefs help support. Otherwise you can try another service.

It must be a crawling issue. The crawler passed through the article, for some reason didn`t find the link and moved on. It could be a 5xx error on the page, an issue with the bot.. Regardless, as long as the link is there and the follow tag hasn`t been changed, I wouldn`t worry about it, especially since google doesn`t rank based on ahrefs crawl.

seeing this kind of issue from the last couple of months. Definitely a bug

I see crazy link variations on ahrefs. They find links from 10 years ago as new.

Lots must be going on in the background. Also I bet more and more sites/networks block their crawling IPs

You mean they recorded a link as dropped / broken instead of being live?

This can happen for lots of reasons as their crawler can get blocked from certain sites when it crawls them too much so it could be recording it as down or lost.
