I'm in the process of buying GP's and noticed that a lot of them are expired domains that have been re-purposed. My question is, whats wrong with that? People do buy expired domains and I dont see why getting a link from a high PR recently expired domain is bad.

Because:

1. You want to build a real network with sites that will get real traffic and links and will pass a manual review (not some crappy churn & burn network with spun content)

2. In case the previous owner did some shady 1337pandapenguinuniverseranking shit on it (there had to be a reason why they dropped the domain)

i agree with the first point, many people buy it to build networks. mostly people buy it to build blog networks.

point 1 agree
point 2 not so much, it's really different (a bit) for each domain, sometimes domains are dropped because there isn't much to do with them anymore (ex company died)

I agree with you 100%, but you made a big assumption by thinking these sites have spun content. The ones I'm looking at are very legit (great content) and will pass a manual review with ease. The only issue is that they were an expired domain. Everything else about it is great.
