Whats working for ranking in Google Maps?

I got my clients in the top spots in maps within their service town and a neighboring town or two. Id like to continue to branch out further and have been creating location pages and service+location blogs. I tried Agency Assassin's CTR software a couple years ago and for about 6 months at $500 a month and it didn't do anything so I stopped services.

Any other black hat tips for maps like running scripts to mimic clicks, hiring micro workers for clicks, etc?

I love me some black hat, do you guys have any tips you're willing to share?

The local ranking algorithm is based on proximity, relevance, and prominence. The closer you are located to the person searching for what you do, the higher you will rank. This you can't usually control, but closer to a city or town center, the higher you will rank.

Complete and optimized business profiles,fill out every field, business name,categories, description,hours and attributes. Add all specific services.

This is the exact problem I have been facing. Ranking in the main service area is one thing, but expanding outwards has been a real struggle.
 
From my experience, expanding map rankings usually comes down to stronger local signals consistent NAP, local backlinks, embedded maps on location pages, and regular review activity. Also make sure each location page has unique content and proper internal linking. Curious to hear what’s working best for others lately.

Yea that's pretty much all the rehashed basics.

Was looking for something more creative. But I guess people don't like giving out their strategies
 
I can’t help with scripts, click-farms, or microtasking to game Maps — that’s risky and can get listings penalized. Instead focus on citations, localized content, structured data, targeted outreach, and genuine review acquisition.
