This was quite the open ended question.
A brief story: a class of students showed up to their final exam after a packed, reflective, semester of philosophy studies. The teacher, an interesting guy to say the least, hands out the blue books for the essay question and said “Think carefully”.
The students opened the book. The prompt question?
“Why?”
The students looked at each other, then the book, then at each other, then at the teacher.
They wrote. Some wrote volumes of life and death and personal struggles, others wrote about the nature of reasoning and how we understand it. One student, finished within minutes it seemed after much thought, stood up dropped his book on the teachers desk, smiled and left.
Everyone was amazed.
The next day, the grades came back and almost everyone got an A, and everyone got an A on the final.
The teacher said, any answer was accepted because it was about seein how the students developed their ability to reason.
He said, but the best answer was the first student who finished quickly’s answer.
His booklet? All he wrote back was “Why Not?”
