What's with the WordPress bots and RSS?

I run a lot of WordPresses, and they do have comments, but all must be approved. As a result I do get a lot of bot posts, likely from people on this site and similar others, and while most of the comments are generic like "hey dude, I love your post, I totally agree," I've noticed a recent trend to mentioning a problem with the RSS feed. Recently nearly every spam comment has something about RSS being broken. So, what's up with this? Is this from some recent tutorial or something?
