I feel like a kid again when I used to be sold colourful fruity loops cereal on the Nickelodeon channel.

Except here you get sold Blackhat products using graphics from Scooby Doo, spongebob and Batman..?

I almost feel like it’s patronising and overcompensating for something like hey look at these sick fun graphics where this cartoon dog is holding my offerings in its paw. Cool right? So you going to buy or what?

Who even started this trend here? I mean I’ve always seen cool bright graphics being used to sell marketing services or whatnot but can honestly say I haven’t ever seen anything quite like some of the power seller posts on this forum before.

That's it you've never seen it anywhere else. The sellers try to be unique and I personally like the designs.

Yeah, they don't look professional and some even look bad, like from the 95 windows age.

Its just that we want our services to look unique something interesting that engages user

Someone’s for sure started it all though as after going through quite a few of them more recently Dexters laboratory one they seem to all sort of follow the exact same pattern / template including having graphics like rulers or ink spills sort of doted around the post to give it depth.

Never understood that either. You can still have a nice graphic but why batman, joker, robin hood, etc etc for SEO service?

Black an white services offers are not eye catching.

But I am sure you will look at it "Don't look out there"
graphics and colors catch attention more than plan text. !!!!!!!!!!Simple!!!!!

I never said they didn’t. I just see no relevance to using Peppa Pig to advertise EDU backlinks.

This is exactly how marketing psychology works on children , brands would place a cartoon over a box of cheese so kids ask for that cheese brand but that crap generally doesn’t work on adults. To me it sort of put me off a lot of the services as it sort of takes away that legitimacy away from a brand that the seller is trying to build. I don’t know, just my opinion.

Its just to make it interesting and mostly its the person who is offering personally like those characters. It catches there eye so they think/assume it will catch most people eyes and in most cases it does.

Not just on children "Works on me" :anyway: I see such offers rather than plain texts. I got your point that its useless to put skooby out there but it sure grabs attention of a lot of people. People who likes Scooby Doo stop by for him and eventually read the offer and others who are looking for offers will surely into it as well so their is no issue in using such characters.

It strikes me as ridiculous and unprofessional.

I also hate those generated eBook or CD images and shiny "BUY NOW" buttons that sellers here seem to like so much. I feel that sellers using such images are untrustworthy.

I don't usually mind learning of them so much if it hit helps make it fun for the seller too, I mean I try not to let it distract me too much but the whole Lady Gaga and Katy Perry thing I have come across was definitely a little off-putting to say the least. What was all that even about?

I know they think they are being unique but I’m genuinely getting cartoon character fatigue when visiting some of these threads. I just want the information and then to see the reviews , that’s all. Colours and maybe some slick graphics are not an issue but overload of cartoon characters and actual comic book style descriptions are outright unnecessary when none of us 8 years of age.

lmao what thread was that??

Not sure why you don’t like it but for me if a seller can put so much efforts in his presentation then I can only imagine he’ll do the same for me, ps some sellers don’t use but they make it up with their words either way till they’re not breaking the rules it’s fine

It's on there somewhere, they even named the package deals after the songs alejandro this, bad romance that cringe factor 10/10. Like I get people wanting to be quirky but you have to be careful not to turn your potential customers to the next best alternative just because they find your posters annoying.

Whilst sometimes this is true it’s crucial to be wary as you are on a blackhat forum so at times that’s precisely a sellers plan. Shower you with gorgeous expensive eye catching graphics to lure you in and provide your the exact same service that someone else provides for 50% less.

That’s precisely what bigger brands do ( good examples are branded and unbranded paracetamol tablets, same solution at a different price ) .
That’s why to me it came across as a little patronising to assume that your clients are for the most part going to probably be inclined to buy your product because of the cartoons.

I have a black and white monitor, so I don't notice the colors. Images annoy me. I find them more difficult to read/follow than a plain text post.

I'd studied consumer psychology at the university, I'll give you a short summary why this could be bad, why this could be good.

When you buy something, you can basically fit the whole process into two categories: heuristic decision making or extended decision making.

When you make heuristic decisions, you don't really think about the product/decision itself, you just see the product, it switches on predefined behaviour/feeling inside you, and that's it.

Examples: buying a bar of chocolate at the counter, children buying cereal because it has cartoon characters on it, buying a more expensive washing powder thinking it will be better for your clothes just because it's more expensive than other brands.

When you make extended decisions, you actually do research, spend time thinking about what to buy, compare products, etc.

Therefore using cartoon characters is a heuristic tool.

When it comes to SEO services, there are two kinds as well:
1. shit services targeting delusional newbies
2. actual valuable, high-priced services

When you are selling to a delusional newbie who is F*CKING hungry to make that easy money, to get the first page of google in 3 days, heuristic tools will work. He already knows batman, joker, etc. is strong, efficient in doing what they do, and he/she will connect the dots in his mind. Batman is good = your service is good too.

Now, if you are trying to sell to an actual SEO professional this way, he/she will just think you are an unprofessional moron. He/she may still buys your product if he/she is really in need of your service, but not otherwise.

It's all about the human psyche and grabbing its attention in a sea of other threads offering similar services.
