what's with all those .guru sites

so i was looking at competition and i noticed alot of .guru sites ranking for alot of keywords (english) then i searched for the same keyword (spanish) surprise there was the exact same website in spanish ranking for the same keyword, not only that i found alot of websites EXACTLY the same, same articles, diferent domain names same .guru, they have pretty high DA and PA how are they not penalized by google, every single sites shares the same articles even in english. theres not "great content in them " just viral crap... makes me wonder why even try to go whitehat.

Hi, can you pm me with some examples. This looks interesting, since G said they will not rank EMD with priority.
 
There's also a chance where the search engine is placing importance on the price to register the domain name. .guru is freaking expensive! And renewal isn't cheap either. So probably that may place some weight on the domain name, as spammer would not want to invest into an expensive domain for starter - with no metrics.
 
imagine google banning for duplicate content because site had two versions one for en-us one for en-gb.. maybe they allow duplicate content in that case


plus if a domain is authority it can do anything and it wont get banned

.guru is costly. Less chance of spammers using. more genuine sites :)

I remember years ago that everybody claimed that .com ranked easier than .net or whatever else... since then Google has come out and flat out said that they don't reward/harm your rank based on being a .com vs whatever other TLD. Google has been known to... bend the truth though, but I feel this is fairly accurate. Is it possible there are OTHER benefits? Maybe. This could even be worth testing, but unless the tester can isolate an effect (quicker indexing, more tolerance for thin content, whatever) first it would be very tough to know what to even look for.

IMHO the .guru domains look scammy as fuck. And I'd avoid using them just based on that opinion alone, makes you look like a fake guru in whatever you do.

I completely agree with you. And in regards to testing this, it will be very very hard to isolate a test for this.

It really doesn't make a difference, however geo-tld like .co.uk etc most certainly do for local keywords.

2 separate domains can have the exact same content and not get "banned", nothing against that, just false information.
