Whats the proper link velocity for new site?

Im thinking something between 0-3 links a day, so week would be (one hyphpen == one day):
- (mon) 0
-(tue) 0
- (etc) 1
- 2
- 1
- 0
- 0

something like that?

also for how many months keep it like that? should I increase it with time?

I assume I can rank a site as well with making only one strong link per month BUT I wanted to know whats the best Link Velocity i can choose for a new site.

I do like... 1 or 2 links a week. And even that after like 2 months after the site is established. I found that somehow, the slower you build links, the more effective they get. Maybe it's just a coincidence, but it sure seems like that to me.

I also do 1-2 links per week and after 2-3 months I do like 2-3 links. It's a bit slow progress, but ranking stick and I don't have any long term issues. Before I start to build links, I get 50-150 social signals (tw, pin, fb, reddit, etc) per page. This is the method I use on small niche sites. With bigger sites, where I have more competition, I track velocity of top competitors and make it a bit bigger.
