What's the next step? (Noob.)

I have a 2 month old domain that I haven't done anything with until 2 days ago. I'm trying to rank for two KWs that get 6100 exact. The top 10 are poorly optimized.

So far I've written just 1 article and also added contact, privacy, and about pages. The article is unique and has a KW density of about 7% and is about 550 words. This was 2 days ago.

Today I just checked my site and all pages have been indexed and I'm ranking on page 9 and 10.

I'm gonna write a few more articles, maybe 3-5 a week. This will be an ongoing thing.


2 questions...

1. What do I do next besides writing articles? This is my first site.

2. I have SB, but I've read that I shouldn't use it on new sites, and I shouldn't blast my main site. How long should I wait before I start blasting?

I've done a lot of reading, but couldn't find a direct answer or blueprint. It's annoying and time-consuming. I'd really like to just press on.

Use web 2.0 sites like blogger, squidoo write an article with a link pointing to your site and blast those They have so many links they won't get penalized. Will give your site some good link juice, also article directories.
Do slow link building manually, forum profiles etc.

I would say 7% density is a bit high..

I would write another post on your site Shoot for 1000 words

I don't think it's all that bad using SB on new sites. By the time the links get picked up adn indexed by Google, it takes a while anyway (if at all).

But.. it should by no means be your primary SEO strategy.

I would focus on making sure your on On Page is as good as it can be. (Titles/descriptions/h1 tags/formatting etc) and then seek to get about 10-20 good quality links. (PR4+) and you'll hit first or second page without too much trouble.

Reduce the KW density to 4% max. Get 1000 words in the homepage and 500-600 in the other pages...

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll start writing some articles for the 2.0 sites. Do the articles have to be optimized for 2.0 sites (KW density, word count, etc.)? I'll also use SB and find some blogs to comment on manually.

What do you mean by forum profiles? Do I just create random profiles that link to my site in the sig?

I'll be adding more articles over the week. I'll make them 1000 words to give that a shot. I also thought 7% density is high. I think I read that it should 4-5%, but I wasn't sure.

Thanks for the advice. I'll do some manual commenting first, then I'll move to SB. As for on page optimization, I'm using TT to check my site, and I'm also using the all-in-one plugin for WP. If there's any other plugin or software to better my on page, please let me know.

I'll be using SB to find some higher PR blogs (hopefully) to manually build some BLs.

For TT, I have a page warning that says my "meta description is less than x characters." Any tips on fixing this?
