What's the most underrated AI model you used or came across ?

Probably Claude by Anthropic or Mistral models — both are solid but often overlooked because they don’t get as much hype as OpenAI or Google. They handle reasoning and language tasks really well, especially for long-form or nuanced prompts.

Honestly? One of the most underrated ones I’ve come across is RWKV. It’s like this hybrid between RNNs and Transformers crazy efficient, super lightweight, and can run on much smaller devices compared to big LLMs like GPT.

I was going to comment Deepseek due to it being free, then I saw your comment.

Why not Deepseek?

It went to shit lately. EARNIE though - that's something else. 300 Billion parameters at $0.28/M input $1.10/M output tokens. It easily competes with top reasoning models at $25-$75/million tokens.

Also Deepseek R1 is currently $0.55/M input tokens $2.19/M output tokens at openrouter I you want to have availability. If you buy directly from them the price is the same:
https://api-docs.deepseek.com/quick_start/pricing/

At openrouter you at least have 6 providers, deepinfra for example is always with low latency.
None of the models are actually free if you do anything useful with them. It's not only chat. Think about scaling applications.

Thanks for the detailed response : )

SAM (Segment Anything Model) by Meta AI - It allows real time image segmentation with incredible accuracy.

I think Claude 2. Everyone's obsessing over GPT-4 but Claude's got this crazy ability to actually follow complex instructions without the constant "as an AI" disclaimers.

At the moment, Claud is a really strong AI tool. It handles a lot of work

In my experience:

Deepseek is great for data analysis.
Gemini 2.5 pro for project planning and research.
Claude for development. Especially the artifacts are amazing.
Chatgpt I use as a search engine.
Grok for crypto and research.

Chatgpt. It is the most commonly used but the majority is still missing on the benefits of this tools. It will eventually be as common as Google and userbase will expand fast.

For me, it's manus. Super underrated - it's not just about content, it's surprisingly strong at understanding tone and adjusting for different use cases. Worth digging into if you haven't already.
