What's the most long-term, sustainable path?

Hey everyone!

Newb to internet marketing in the house. So, I'm trying to deduce what the best path is in IM. What's the best for long-term sustainability? I've browsed through the forum, and I see a lot of "methods" that can work for a while but can be taken away in a heartbeat. Now, I know this is the case with anything, but you know what I mean.

I'm looking to learn something that I can continuously get good at and where there will always be a demand/way to make money. The goal is to obviously leave the rat race, and by that I mean just being able to work from my comp on my own terms. I've narrowed it down to SEO and Programming, but what are the others you would consider a good, long-term skill to acquire? I don't think drop-shipping or affiliate marketing are for me. Also hand-in-hand with SEO is the fact that I like to write, so I like the idea of finding people to build me websites, learning how to optimize them, and then doing a bunch of affiliate sites and blogs.

Sorry if the question doesn't make a ton of sense haha, but yeah...what do you guys think are good skills to learn and hone and carry on through my adult life? I know there's a lot of knowledge on this forum, as I've heard a ton about it from multiple people, so I'm looking forward to hearing thoughts from those who have been around for years.

Blogging? Even if the monetization methods will eventually change, your blog will always (if you do correctly!) exist.
I'm actually planning to start a blog as a side project, if you pick this path, good luck !

Building websites/blogs, this will never EVER die or get "old" like any other method.

If you really look for a long term path, you should go with this but prepare for a job to do.

If you manage to constantly motivate yourself in 2 years from the day you start it, you can expect to hit your first month of "life income", meaning, you are going to start living just from internet.

2 years is average number, it can take more but if you know what you need to do, it can also take you less then 24 months.

I like to believe that IM is ever changing but one thing is always the same, people/users want value.

So anyhow you can create some value for the long term should be your sustainable way to monetize in the long term through blogs / IM / etc

I know this sounds shitty, but learning how to sell. Seriously.

I know that doesn't mean anything. But from the perspective of the internet and someone who doesn't know anything about anything, learn how to take something worth $1 and flip it for $2, then do it a million times xD

Thanks for the info! Do you think learning SEO goes hand-in-hand with blogging? Or does pumping out a ton of quality articles over time take care of rank and traffic for my sites?

100% agree here. Thinking of doing blogs of things I'm passionate about/know about/can help other people with my information.

Haha, I mean, you're probably right, yeah. Part of my long-term journey in life will be wholesale buying and reselling for sure. Do you actually have to SEO listings on sites like Amazon and Ebay? I don't know much about selling there.

Takes years to learn marketing deep to no what to do, it a deacated art marketing online.

Also take plenty of monthly cash needed to even get started.

Marketing online self business and you need to be self employed and pay tax on money you earn so you need money for rent electric gas and food, wife children car, that the start.

if you can be self-employed go for it or read more and try see if it for you.

read your country law on tax.

I'd say YOU are the long-term path. Yet, I'd like to say your perspective of IM should be to build assets. such as building a site that can be a blog site, e-commerce, or streaming sites etc. I generally think blogging is a good start. However, you should think about what you love. You probably think I'm bullshiting. But we have to consider that we are willing to do it even nobody pays us or read the stuff. I believe it'll get better. I consider starting a site learning process. writing articles is to strengthen my thinking. Mostly, I translated articles and tweak a little bit.

2 years are a good timeframe; 50 articles are a good goal for the beginning.

I agree with other. The passive income is what you want to achieve and the best way to start is own blog. You should find sth you are good at and just star writing about it, but for me it was difficult (I'm not very good in anything) and I made multi niche blog. Right now I'm selling ebook and thinking about drophipping.

Just start doing sth. I'm sure if you will work hard every day you will succeed.

A good skillset always helps. You could work for potential clients and manage your project at the same time. Apart from blogs, I would add social media handles & clusters of reputable domains to that list.

Build 10 different types of sites. These can be a method, like a jobs site method. Within that category build for example first 3-5 sites, to see how well you can do with them.

Manage your 10 different types the same way a CPU handles processes. One at a time, and not a requirement to do all of them at any one time.

Thanks for the info! I would definitely go with things I love, as it would make it easier to get done. And, yeah, I keep hearing give it 2 years to see any good money, so I'm along for the long-term journey!

I kind of have that same problem - I'm not too good at anything. How is your multi-niche blog going? I had had that thought, but wasn't sure how desirable it would be to people.

Interesting. This one may take a little more work and experience then I have right now haha, but I will keep it in mind!
