I generally look at page bounce rate, or where your visitors are coming from. What are other parameters that we need to track?

New or Unique visitor conversion .
Sources for Incoming Traffic .
Interactions per visit ( Pages / Sessions ) .
Return visitor conversion .
Value per visit .
Bounce Rate .
Lead generation costs ( Cost per conversion ) .
Exit Pages .
Page views .
Average Session duration .

Above these are the Most important Google Analytics Metrics to track .

Okay please don't tell anyone because it's a huge secret. But I like to track conversions

For me, the most important metrics boil down to user path and bounce rate.

These two metrics tell me just how much value people are getting from my website.

The user path is very helpful because it shows me which pages on my site are most appealing—people find so much value in those pages that they can’t help but link to my other pages.

I study those pages very closely to try to replicate them on other pages.

I figure out a call-to-action, I figure out page similarity, and other clues that can help me increase the overall value of my page assets.

Bounce rate is very important because it tells me what the base value of my content is.

If I notice that it’s higher than 75%, then there’s a problem.

Maybe the content is not long enough.

Maybe it’s formatted wrong.

Maybe the promise of an answer is not located high enough on the page.

So, I start going down a list of potential problems in a bid to fix the issue.

So, the lower the bounce rate, the happier I am.

And when paired with longer user paths, I can figure out a winning content strategy formula for my website.

The name of the game is to get people on your site, get them to stay, and get them to drill down.

Because every page that they see is an opportunity for you to convince them to click on an ad, enter an email, or otherwise, do something that, ultimately, would translate to dollars in your bank account.

Bounce rate is what is most important for me.

number of visitors, bounce rate, top sources for traffic & time on page. I think these metrics pretty much tell everything I need to know.
