What's the first technical SEO error you check on the new site?

The first thing I check is whether important pages can actually be crawled and indexed A simple robots file or noindex mistake can block growth completely After that I look at sitemap status internal links and page speed issues

I usually start with the crawl errors, broken links, proper indexing, XML sitemap, robots.txt, page speed, and mobile usability. These are some techical SEO factor on which I have focused more.

Among the most important tests that should be done first is bloating indexing, which requires making sure that your category nd tag pages are not indexed. The other important test includes getting rid of the issue of bots trap via useless links or rendering issues as well as INP latency problems. Even if you have all the necessary content on your website, it won't pass if there are any other issues.

Preventing any form of crawling leakage should be first on your list, as such issues are merely symptom rather than causes. The causes of the problem could include errors such as 404s and redirects, which affect googlebots ability to reach a certain page. Link equity needs to flow effortlessly throughout the website as well, and core page must be reachable in no more than three clicks from the homepage.

I check for broken links and the sitemap so I can make sure my websites are crawled.

First thing I check is indexing and crawlability.
If Google can’t properly crawl the site nothing else really matters.

first thing i usually check is indexing and crawlability (robots.txt, noindex tags, sitemap submitted in GSC)
In one project pages were not ranking just because half the url were accidently set to noindex.
after that i look at broken links, site speed and mobile issues but indexing is always the first and most important check.

The first thing I check is whether the site can be crawled and indexed properly. Issues like blocked pages in robots.txt, noindex tags, broken internal links and sitemap errors can prevent pages from ranking no matter how good the content is
