For someone wanting to use it for content writing does it improve the content?

If you opt to use the GPT-4 model, then yes, in my opinion, it produces much better content than GPT-3.5.

I have tried both the free and paid versions and not much difference. Paid is almost the same as the free version. The only difference is paid version has gpt-4 access but it is limited to 15-25 messages per 3 hrs which I don't find worth paying.

by better content do you mean more info on a subject or does it give more of a natural response?

I suggest you to use role assignment and prompt models. There are artificial intelligence usage models. You should pay attention to these details when asking your question.

The difference is that with the free version you only have access to gpt 3.5, and with gpt 3.5 you just can't trust anything it says. So you need to fact check every single thing it says. With gpt 4 in the paid version you can trust it a lot more. In fact, it rarely gives me incorrect info.

Citing Sources

LLMs for the most part cannot accurately cite sources. This is because they do not have access to the Internet, and do not exactly remember where their information came from. They will frequently generate sources that look good, but are entirely inaccurate.

Hallucinations

LLMs will frequently generate falsehoods when asked a question that they do not know the answer to. Sometimes they will state that they do not know the answer, but much of the time they will confidently give a wrong answer.

More human responses, now provide an accurate response and do not add extra text or information besides what you asked for, pictures description and don't remember what else, basically is better but the free version can still do it's job.

According to me main difference between the two versions is the level of functionality and the amount of text that can be generated.

free version of ChatGPT is limited in several ways it can only generate a maximum of 256 characters of text at a time
paid version of ChatGPT has fewer limitations and can generate larger amounts of text. It also has access to a wider range of external data sources

In terms of content quality, both the free and paid versions of ChatGPT have the potential to generate high-quality content

Paid version doesn't have lag. It is also alightly better for copywriting.

One scale of 1 to 4
Consciousness (big quote unquote)
Gpt 3.5 1
Gpt 4.0 3

On a practical level there is huge difference. 4.0 gives far better outputs.

Heres what you are getting for free:
