Whats the Best Way

Whats the best way to get blog posts about daily events quickly ranked and at the top for G Results.. These are things like a posting event that takes place and would be searched for that day only really.

Should I ping each post? I use pingler but thats only every 3 days.

Mostly website authority. More quality links to the root and internal pages more likely new pages will be ranked higher. Pinging won't matter. If it's an active blog it will get picked up immediately.
