What's the best option?

I suggest you move on with Influencer marketing and Social Media Marketing where you can reach wider audiences in a short period.

The only relevant influencers would be large LinkedIn accounts. And I don't know where to find LinkedIn influencers.

Use social media & IG Influencer for promoting your best creation:)

But stop suggesting Instagram influencers to sell ONE BOOK.
We're talking about a 400-page BOOK.
If I wanted to resell a lipstick, then yes, I'd use a floozy who spends her time showing her ass on Instagram.
Here, we're talking about selling a book to people with brains.
And please, unroll the answers, after the 10th one who says "use social networks", I'm going to swallow two boxes of Valium.

What I think is, you can't promote your creations as quickly as you can through social media these days. So convey the value of your hard work to the audience.

Basically, you've got nothing relevant to say but you still want to open it.

What part of "The book is in French." did you not understand?
It's nice of you to recommend an American agency, except that I don't see why I'd spend $1,000 on communications to the U.S. to sell a book written in French about France. I'd just as soon burn money.
Thank you for pointing that out.. the PR agency (9-figure media ) isn't just based in US, it's works cuts across the world. They can get your business to the desired audience. All you need to do is to get across to them and let them know your exact needs. Being a US firm doesn't limit them from discharging their duties.

I checked the services offered before replying :)
It does not offer any French publications.
If the book were in English, yes, I might have considered it, although I find it very expensive.
I even thought about doing an English-language version, but I don't see why English speakers (Americans, Brits, Australians) would be interested in the subject of my book, even though I have some chapters (glowing ones at that) on the USA, Canada, the UK and Australia.
On the other hand, my English is not good enough for me to translate it myself.
I'm afraid Amazon will reject the English manuscript if it's translated with DeepL.

Press articles are great, but since you already have a couple, maybe try for some more specific placements. Look for blogs or online publications that focus on investigative journalism or geopolitics in French-speaking regions. They might be more likely to cover your book. haring press mentions is awesome, but have you tried engaging with relevant hashtags on Twitter or Facebook? #GeopoliticalThriller (or the French equivalent) could be a good start. You can also try joining online communities for French readers or those interested in current affairs. You mentioned you're willing to invest. Consider running some targeted Amazon ads. You can set them to reach people who buy similar books in French. Since you've offered free copies already, have you considered running a giveaway contest? Offer a signed copy (or an e-reader copy) as a prize to generate some buzz.

Press articles?
Hello,
unfortunately, I've only had two articles in the press. I don't know what it's like elsewhere, but when you publish on your own (without a publishing house), you're snubbed by the entire journalistic profession...

On the other hand, I did take part in a Space last week, and it did sell a few copies. Several listeners bought (and read!) my book and talked about it on Twitter.

I also have a trump card up my sleeve: elected officials. There's a lot of talk about my book right now, and since I have easy access to politicians, as soon as I catch one, I talk about my book.

I love your suggestions :) Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Maybe I should target Canadians (francophones) especially since I have a whole hefty chapter on Canada.

To be honest, I found out last week about Amazon Ads, I'll consider that option.

I also like the contest idea.

As for the blogs, I'm going to stop you, but with kindness and respect. For my book, I interviewed numerous experts, who also have their own blogs. I thought - in addition to their expertise - they'd return the favor, by making a tweet or a post of some kind on LinkedIn. No.

Given the subject, bloggers or influencers that you can pay to say good things about you, clearly make you lose credibility. I didn't do this book just for the money: I did it to affirm my expertise.

A colleague told me that I should go to the next level and get published by a "real" publishing house. Maybe I'll end up considering it.

Hello dear..
I'm sorry it took a while for me to. Respond to your message. Hope you have been having productive and amazing days.
About your book, you should try and reach out to 9-figure media honestly, it doesn't matter the language the book was published but they can help it get to any desired audience of your choice. Also about the price, they can work within your budget. They aren't so rigid with their price and I can testify because they worked within my budget for my business too.
Have a wonderful weekend.

I wouldn't be able to tell the niche and and the target market, but if I knew I would be able to steer you in the right direction.

I think I would have gotten in touch with some of the YT and FB influencers in my country to promote the book against a per sale commission deal, and let the money flow in.

After I have had some success, I would have gone with PR into top news portals and offline platforms, and along-side that I would have kept a good blog in the money -site to draw in the targeted traffic through what matters to them most, so I could easily market the book to them, and maybe some other things which they are also interested in by forming tie-ups with some brands of reckoning which targets the same market as mine.

Hello,
no worries :) Listen, you know what? It doesn't cost anything to contact them and see what they tell me. Have a nice weekend too.

I like the idea of the percentage on sale, but how do you determine it in KDP?
On YT and FB influencers, honestly, as I said before, I don't see any correct ones.

As I've already explained in the other answers, we're talking about a geopolitical book, in French.
