Wondering what’s the best strategy to build links to sites with hundreds of thousands of pages.

I would actually not invest in a PBN in a big money site, the cost/benefit of this approach is getting worse and worse. I would encourage you to build authority by gunning for backlinks on recognized sites in your niche using guest post outreach. These links are the most difficult to get and, therefore, most valuable.

I would also concentrate on building a social media presence in order to spread your content. Create linkbait type content, content you know will go viral on social media channels, and publish it on your site in the hopes it will get picked up by large media organizations and other websites, giving you organic link velocity as well as natural website traffic.

Slow and steady in this case.
