What type of ads are you referring to? Adsense?

For simplicity I had always used whydowork adsense plugin. It is simple and easy to place ads where you want them. I've currently switched over to adrotate as it makes it easier to rotate out what networks are being displayed but is a little more work to get the placement you want.

For AdSense use Google Publisher Plugin (the official) or Quick Adsense. For other ads I personally use AdRotate.

I couldnt get whydowork plugin to work...ironically....but the google adsense plugin (beta) is great!
