Hello,

Over the last 8 months I have been building links for my site.

I have Web 2.0's, EDU blogposts, Wiki links, social bookmarks and a few high authority links.

At the moment my site is sitting at around rank 3-5 for my top 5 keywords.

This is great, but I want to be on top!

What is the next step to take? Do I simply increase the amount of backlinks I am adding? or is there anything else I should be doing to help improve my rank?

Any advice is welcome.

P.S . This is a long term eCommerce site so spamming is not an option!

TY x

Just keep working it takes time if you see no improvement in 2-3 months then increase efforts

Now you need some backlinks from authority sites to boost your rankings to 1st spot.
Good quality PBNs with good backlink profile or guest posts would work for you.

Just focus on really high quality backlinks and social presence. Keep it up and continue to grow your social profiles, as they will also be a great source of traffic in the future once they're built up.

If you haven't done any, then social signals should help. FB shares/likes, G+, Tweets, Pintrest Pins, etc
Create a G+ page if you haven't already.

If your web 2.0's are new then strengthen them with authoritative links (tier 2).

Tiered linking with proper platforms pointing at your money sites would do magic.

The easy way is to analyze the backlink profile of the 1st n 2nd sites and then start working on getting the high authority backlinks to outrank them.

As a couple of people have recommended .. Do some analysis on the top positions, and build the same quality links they have built

Throw a couple of decent PBN links in there, and that might be enough.

Make sure your on page is super tight as well. If it's not, then even tweaking that could give you the boost you need.

Research your competitor backlinks. This will help your for better ranking.

This is great, but I want to be on top!

Everyone wants to be on top. To be different than others, you have to be the best!
Is that simple - no. That's why only a few reach the top.

Keep working hard. It will take some time but it can be done in the next few months. I would suggest doing the research that others have suggested. Then you will know why your competitors are on top.

I followed an advice I got here and increased the length of all my articles and I worked pretty well. That and more backlinks ;)

You can add some more stuff's in your link-building campaign.. like quality infographic submission, video submission, Adding some product's review's etc..
