Anyone have thoughts or maybe "better practices" for using backlinking tools in 2014? Are you using GSA or other seo tools to build links to tier 1, tier 2, tier 3? What's next for backlink tools do you think they are going to start being less effective?

Never think about backlink generator tools. Always manual only. Recommend "Content Marketing" Strategy.

Sorry I donot believe in theory that SEO tools are going to stop working why so? Since SEO is also for search engine they are also softwares or algorithms as softwares of SEO do have... computers have limitation and as far as your tricks working you are always win win :)

Well it depends on what you're trying to do. For the long run, only manual link building will do. For the short term there are all sorts of tools you can use or even outsource it and just buy services.

For tier 3's backlinks tools should be fine but as mentioned for long term ranking you're going to want to use manual backlinking strategies.

What the heck? There is no reason that a software tool can't be used for all of your links. There is no way for google to determine if a link got created manually or with a software. It simply depends on how you use them.

My recommendation:

T1 links:
HIGH Quality article with sentence and paragraph spinning uploaded on trusted web2.0 profiles (profiles which already have content posted which doesn't promote your site plus curated content from high authority sites)

T2 links:
Quality article with word, sentence and paragraph spinning on web2.0, article directories, wikis, pdf sharing etc.

T3 links:
Blog comments, and all the before mentioned, just with crap spun content.

For T1 and T2, I also recommend to use social signals

Tools I'd recommend based on my own experience (note: There are many ways, this is just what I use!)
Zsubmitter for web2.0 sites (currently testing, but it looks really refreshing and I'm impressed so far.)
Scrapebox
Blognetbandit 3.0
addmefast bot (there is a free one in the forum!) for social signals.
SENuke/Licorne AIO are also nice to have, even though I prefer the first three tools I mentioned to create my backlinks.

warm regards,
Michael

why limit to three tier's think beyond it, Google's getting smarter everyday now.

You need to understand, SEO tools are built by a team of software coders with a budget of $10,000 and a lot of time.
Google is a multi billion dollar company with lots of resources and teamS of coders who are valedictorians all over the world.
So if one software is doing good, they can easily shut it down. They have done it so many times.

It's definitely all how you use the software. I think building manual 2.0's and other tier 1 links is a solid way to go. However, using manually spun content via thebestspinner on tier 2's and beyond with GSR isn't a bad plan.

The key is to make it all look manual, even though you are using a tool to do it.
