Whats it like to be a Blockchain developer?

So I would like to know, if any of you had any 9-5job/freelancing experience with developing Blockchain applications. Does not have to be cryptocurrency Stuff, but more like in general.
I am not sure if its worth dipping your toes in this kind of niche or if its still too early money wise.

Would appreciate an insight from someone who has experience in this.

it's like any other software job. developing on the blockchain generally means leveraging ethereum's solidity smart contracts or understanding the bitcoin source code and making a variant of it.
you're literally just writing code. although, it's a little more involved because it needs to scale and work on a distributed level.

right now its trendy and there are only a few companies that are employing "blockchain developers". it's incredibly risky in terms of job security and probably requires a lot more commitment than the typical job.
not worth it; but of course because it's such a niche thing there will be companies willing to pay a fortune

You just have to be an expert at what you do and then it doesn't matter what exactly you develop. I'm from an enterprise background and every single external consultant I work with makes at least 1000$ per day, some even 3000$.
Do your best, learn every day, master your niche/technology and earn away.

Like Regalia said, its risky. I just have been wondering, if its worth it putting in the work for a side hustle(consulting/development) in this niche.

I guess it can be worth it, if you have the connections in the niche. You either need to build up your reputation with open source contributions or know someone to hire you early on.
