I'm tired of all this hacks, cracks and keygens niche and was wondering "what's hot" nowdays, or at least, what is the best way to figure out what you can promote to other people besides those described above?

Anything that has huge amounts of hype behind it. If it's something on any type of news sites then it has to be hot and sexy ;)
 
Do some research on a solid product or niche and build on that. Think outside the box. Like think about something people on a regular basis use or search. For example, lots of people look up car reports ect. Think of things like this and how to monetize these.
 
Pick the things you like and are knowledgeable about.

We don't exactly focus our minds and energy on things that are useless, unless we're purely consumers, in which case: pick the things you consume.

Always look in the direction of almost "illegal" stuff, there are some things that will never change even with times. For example, porn/adult content or cracks/hacks will work anytime because people are hungry for it.

For me, i find porn easiest to earn money from, as long as you managed to build a solid base. Patience is the key.

Thanks to everybody replying to my thread. I'm currently having a website with multiple files and doing some PPD with them, but I want to promote something else than keygens, cracks etc. It's hard to build backlinks for those. I'd rather like to promote one single product but I have got no clue on how to "figure out" what I could promote. Why? Because most of the things that people search for on Google is offered for "FREE" without a survey. So, how do I exactly get someone to complete a survey and get my download when there are tons of other sites promoting the same stuff without a survey? I'm clueless..
 
Look for products that most people are trained to pay for and then find an opensource solution that offers the same features for free. Choose your tags carefully to target the software name. Set your title to "x is free and is better than software name (that costs money)". Make sure you mention that they need to fill a survey to download it, people don't like to feel deceived. You can then simply redirect them to the opensource solution after they fill the survey.

I don't feel comfortable with your idea. Since the alternative tool is "Open Source" it means that the original publisher offers that product on its original website. So why should they complete a survey when they can just jump to the author's site and get it for free?

You don't exactly mention it's open source. Tell them you are giving it to them for free.

You don't exactly mention it's open source, it should look like it's exclusively your offer to them; additionally you don't even need to mention the software name, simply take screenshots of the software in action. There are successful vendors on clickbank who took free opensource software and sold it on clickbank and they made a lot of money doing just that. Like I said people are trained to pay for certain products, and if they're willing to pay then they're more likely to fill a survey to get it for free.
