I don't believe so, if they go as a copy cat of twitter or is going to make people check twitter for curiosity, I thing threads will be left as a side project.

It was being launched as a competitor to Twitter to create threads, but a lot of people have misunderstood it. They are posting the same content on threads that they used to post on IG. So, it will coexist without any effect on the twitter.

Elon musk is so out of touch so I would not be uninstalling Threads yet. Let's see how it plays out first.

When it was launched, everybody got so excited and though that it'd finish Twitter but it's not how people think now. I think there's still time to say something about it, because Twitter is changing, so will Threads. And it may change with time.
