What's better?

a) A 500 word quality article with just 1 link, i.e. one anchor in the middle of the article.

OR:

b) A 500 word quality article with 2 links. I.e. one anchor in the middle of the article, AND an additional link at the very end of the article, which is just a naked URL or brand kw.

The first option gives all the link juice to the main anchor, whereas the second option gives half juice to the main anchor, but because it also contains the naked url/brand at the bottom, it adds diversity.

So overall, if you had to choose one, which one would you choose?

Thanks.

Like you said, i think that give all the link juice to the main anchor will be the right choice, but i have some friends that doing 3 links, 1 anchor 2 brand kw 3 wiki link.
Try and see whats work best for you :)

I would go for b for the sake of diversity)
But, in general, no matter, what others say, just go with what looks natural. Forget about SEs and think of visitors who will read your 500 word quality article!

It depends on you because if you want to take the full advantage of the full link juice, better you can go with Option A. On the other side if you want to share the link juice with other links better go with option B. But my personal opinion is the 500-word quality article with just 1 link.

Sorry, it's actually the same link, just that one is via a main anchor, but the other is the naked url. It's not 2 different urls, they're the same URL.

Go With option A, it's safe and best practise

b/ does not give half the juice of a/, as normally a page has more than 1,2 links, but dozens of links, internal and external; this being said a/ would be more likely to be done for SEO purposes, so in general a page has more than 1 in content link, and b/ is slightly more natural; then there is option c/ with 3 links, option d/ with 4 links, etc; these can be considered too as they do exist on the natural web.

You need to look at your whole link-building strategy (rather than a couple of links). Whatever looks natural is usually the best way to go.

Is this for an offsite or internal backlink? If for offsite, then option A for me. No need to force it. One link is enough.

Thanks - but then aren't I at risk for having no naked urls/brand anchors?

You should formulate your questions better next time. I do not see any mention there, that you want to use only exact or partial anchors.

I did actually mention this. Specifically, my last question of the opening post.

You asked A or B. I did not read the fluff after.

Nonetheless, what I said still applies. I would use A, but not just with exact or partial anchors. I don't use more than 1% of exact and maybe 2% partial anchors anyway.

Well then I suggest not to provide your insight if you don't wanna read the whole question.

Anyway, now that the "fluff" has been (re)explained, if you're using such a small % of exact and partial anchors, then what % would you apply to naked urls and brand anchors...
