Is there a good and free surf anonymous client-side app out there that you know of?

There's no one tool, but using a strong proxy app (the good ones are NOT free), TOR or a VPN (for free, try the hotspot shield) to hide your IP is a good start. Add browser settings to clear cookies/history, and FF plugins to clear flash cookies to stay hidden.

Check out HideMyAss.c0m. Their free web based proxy service isn't bad. I'm pretty happy with their VPN product...but that isn't free.

Zebrahat is right though. The HMA VPN won't solve the privacy problem by itself. You need to make sure you're cleaning up after yourself on your machine as well.

TOR sucks. It think the best solution for you would be VPN. SwissVPN is good and they don't keep logs. Most do keep logs so just cause you are anon its doesn't mean the Feds can't find you.
