yeah, I'd fill it up with some "the world will end" content, then sell some "survival" stuff on there.

Start off with the scare by listing the 2012 prediction, most people searching for it should know the "end of the world" tales. Hype it up as much as possible. Even throw in a countdown clock with the words "Hurry time is running out!"
Go on to the "save humanity from extinction". Make it seem as if only a select number of people will survive 2012 (preferably people who buy your secret product).
Finally, sell them a survival guide and/or package.

At your local store...
Buy bandages, bottled water etc.
And sell them at inflated end-of-world rates.
Then all you need is a catchy tag line:
"buy now people, stock up on crap you can get at the store next door, but do it on my site because it has 2012 in it and survival guide."
Too bad a lot of truth is said in jest, people will buy if the site looks good.

You could go the religious route (if it's not offending for you). Since some new age spiritualists and philosophers believe humankind will enter an age of enlightenment in 2012.
Some people believe 2012 will mark the return of aliens, so maybe appeal to them. "What to do when the Watchers return? How to welcome the Watchers back to earth. etc. etc.
