What would you do?

So i have a black friend who ive known since highschool, and hes trying to become a musician (Rap and RnB obviously)

Ive heard what he can do, and im bluntly honost with my friends that think they can make good music normally, but honostly i love some of his work, he has real tallent.

With that said, hes interested in using me to get some online attention, and im interesetd in him to make some money, via getting online attention

anyone got any ideas how they would go about this?

Umm youtube, myspace, blogging. You know social netoworking sites. Heck you may want to even post some music torrents of him if he's got a few songs. Get ppl locally that know him to go to a site setup for him and his music and it will spread by word of mouth. I am talking from experience by the way

Obviously a MySpace account is a must, along with any other similar social networking sites that allow you to upload music or post a Flash MP3 player or YouTube video. Create an account on every social network you can find.

Create a website with his name (or stage name) in the title.

Record some simple videos and upload them to YouTube, then use the methods and software listed on this forum to increase your views. Be sure to include the link to the website mentioned above at the beginning of your YouTube video description.

Lastly, take the guy above me's advice and hit the local venues. Create some flyers and be sure to list his website (or at least his myspace address) on them as well. If he can afford it, burn some of his music on cheap CDs and hand one out (for free or $1) to anyone who wants one at the venues he plays.

thats the thing, he just came back from a 3 year trip to London, which is where he started his career...he literally has nearly zero publicity atm in the US, no performances lined up or anything...

and i really want to stick to my half of the work being the internet thing, as i dont know wtf i would do to try and get him places to play at, im not his manager afterall lol

weve already done myspace, and im trying to get him to do some music vids (of some type) to use on youtube/etc etc
