I have my own affiliate website, trying to rank it for low to medium comp keywords.
However, I don't have the money required for good PNB links (50$+), nor do I want to resort to fiverr 5$ links.

If you were in my position, what would you do? Focus on content? Manual outreach?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Manual outreach will still cost in most cases.

What I would do is do manual outreach, but make it super personal. Help the site owner's out, if you need to. Don't give them a template approach. Build relationships. Be upfront and tell them you're willing to help them, and can't afford to pay for links. etc.

I'd also be on here, a lot. There's free opportunities that come up for links, too.

Depending on your niche, it shouldn't be to hard.

I've found Reddit to be a good resource for connecting with like-minded bloggers, since they are a tech-oriented crowd.

Try Link building yourself.
Find sites that work on User Generated Content. (Post Stuff there)
Find Sites based on your country or city. (Post Stuff there)
Find Forums related to your niche. (Post Stuff there)
Use Web 2.0 Sites For link building

Use Ahrefs free backlink checker to check your competitors link profile and see if there is any you can replicate for your site.
Ahrefs will show 100 links for free from each site.

First you should have killer content so that there is a higher chance to shared by the user and you get natural backlinks.

Try guest posting, google business listing.

Promote it on social media like reddit, reaches the target audience and participate in related groups.

I'd use freebie traffic sources for a little push & guest posts.
