I have a music related site, and would like to try to sell a 125x125 banner ad space on the main page. The site recieves almost 3 million page views per month, what would be a good starting price to charge, in your opinion?

i always used my adsense earnings x 2 for a starting bid on sitepoint.

i might be interested in buying that ad space, if your price is reasonable.
let me know

thank you

:D ? well tell us a little more about your site! If it is more than I reckon then $150 is good then.

Can you just provide the url to your site. I'm always looking to buy banner space on good sites, but no one will just give you a magical number without seeing it first.

It shouldn't really be a secret right?

around what price are you looking for?

Most websites charge by the week (unless it a large corporate site, which may require contracts).

Yeah, I would definitely need to know the number of UV's, the countries of origin of the traffic, and a lot of other marketing and demographic metrics before I'd be able to come up with a reasonable price. Pitchfork is pulling in 250,000 visitors a day and ~1.5M UV's per month and it's one of the most popular, if not the most popular, legal music websites on the Internet. When I've worked with them in the past they charged around $800/month for a small banner. I imagine this price has increased a bit since I worked with them, but that should be a good baseline to work down from.

you already have so many banners, advertising so many things, lol
im not sure but wouldn't that draw less attention to the banner spot your offering now?

How well are the AdSense and eBay ads converting? If they aren't converting well, I'd say take them down and offer traditional advertising space.

The price would depend a lot on how targeted that traffic is.

Yah, If I was to sell space, I would rearrange the site, getting rid of some of the adsense ads. The traffic is VERY targeted. Maybe I'll rearrange, and start at $100 a month and see how it goes.

Thanks for the feedback
