Ok so I uploaded BlizzCon 2011 Videos to youtube. 15 min each video so there's over 200 videos. If I monetize them will youtube just suspend my account or ban me on adsense? Or both? What will happen?

Probably both. What part of "content you must own" do you not get?

So you just recorded an online stream? That's hardly owning it.

Even if you had filmed it with your camera it wouldn't be owning it. Ever wondered why you can't just record the local game and cash on it? The answer is that the rights for recording and airing have been sold to someone (usually a tv station)

Google wants content that YOU created 100%, no questions asked. If you have to ask then you don't own it, simple as that.

got it. How about just having those videos on my channel and NOT monetize them? There are several channels I see that have the same.

Totally agree!! Never use any vids unless they are your own especially when it comes to monetizing.

You'll be fine. YouTube will tell you if you're breaching any copyrights and you can easily delete something to get back in it's good graces.

I will be fine if I don't monetize the videos correct? I'm just trying to use these videos to get people to subscribe to my channel

it is not "simple as that". While ideally you need to own the content you monetize there is only a remote chance you will be caught.

Youtube algorithms look for 2 things copyrighted tv shows/movies and copyrighted music if either of those is detected you will not even be allowed to monetize. Now if you get pass the initial automated check the only way you are getting caught is if someone flags your account and youtube personally looks at it.

If you look at the videos actually monetized on youtube since they opened it up for everyone I think youtube realizes it is going to be impossible to enforce the "unique content" rule and you are kidding yourself to realize that youtube did not expect that the minute they opened monetization for all.

Now don't take that as a go ahead to monetize these videos since it is against the rules you take the risks of losing your adsense account which would suck.

I wouldn't really risk it. Just because you copied it using fraps doesn't really make it your content. That's like saying I can film a concert using Fraps and claim it as my own IP. I would just be extremely careful if you do decide to go that route. Best of luck bud.

I'm saying I will only have the videos on my channel so it can be a way for people to "find" my channel. Will my adsense be affected? How about youtube account?
