My objective was to build a "tips" website in pretty specific niche with one relevant clickbank link in the main article.
So the day after i started my site i posted some links to my site on relevant youtube videos as an experiment. A day later i check my site stats and the traffic has gone up from 9 per day to 300, which i got pretty excited about.

I continued to post youtube links with the same results then after about 3 days suddenly my traffic went down to 5-10 per day DESPITE me still posting links on youtube.
I've also posted articles on 5 different directories and its making no difference whatsoever.

Whats happened? Was the spike in traffic not linked to the youtube links i was posting? has google penalized me for getting traffic too fast?

My sites now been up for a month and this is really starting to bug me...

yeah most of the time when its a new site, google will put your site up and then puts it back down, dont worry keep posting and itll go back up
