What use do SMM provide for IG?

So I know what services they provide.. likes, followers, views on story, etc. The only one I can see being useful is like to get you into the explore page hopefully leading to profile views and followers. What I dont see a use for is the fake followers that will lower your engagement and are pretty much a negative for any account. Could someone explain it to me? This may be a dumb question but I haven't really seen an explanation for it.

So I see how an a new account could benefit from ~1000 bot followers, but is their any use further than that for them?

People buy followers for multiple reasons. Some buy to sell shoutouts and some buy to flaunt their number of followers. There are many more reasons.

For likes the primary reason is to hit the explore page.

Every engagement type has its own purpose for buying.

Social proof is the main reason. Buying 1000s of followers to start a new page won't really hurt it in the long run
