what topic to choose

If you have had some sucess in IM via making a website...

I am interested, did you make a website about something that you were passionate about, and you had knowldege enough to make a site that was quality, and then figure out how to make money?

or did you just choose something you didnt really give a shit about, but knew was very commercial and once you got through the grind of making it will make lots of money?

which way round leads to more success i wonder



Or how many make money and never even made a website, used some other method?

Market research will always beat out personal interest. I like sitting around in a hammock eating pizza all day, but I'm not going to make money of this niche.
