What Tool Created This Site?

I saw this site up for sale today over at sitepoint.com. I don't typically watch any of the new template type of sites for sale because the content is just generated content that I can make myself pretty quickly. However when I saw this site I almost bought it. I really like the design and layout but even more to the point the site looks so natural yet I am pretty sure it is a generated site.

Can anyone identify the program that generates sites like this? I know there are bilions of content and site generators out there but I am wondering which one can do all of the things this site has.

The forum for example is a full forum that users can register on. Yet I think it has been populated with Yahoo answers script of some sort to make it look as if there are a lot of people on the forum

Also if you notice the home page has a featured videos box top left. It rotates every time as do the pictures from the gallery and quotes etc.

It is a nice looking site and so well blended at least in my opion I would bet the average user would not know it was a generated site. Not sure how google would treat it probably figure it is duplicate content etc and it must have a burnout rate of some sort.

Anyway instead of buying the site I decided to hop over here and see if any of you guys new the script that could build such a site.

well I think the forum part is run off PunBB though I cant say for sure thats just going off of the css stylesheet for that part of the site.

Overall the sites look great, hope someone knows if theres a cms thats producing these.

I dont think it is a cms that is used to generate it. Just my hunch but I think if you look carefully most all of the pages on the site are composed of rss feeds. Articles are rss feeds from ezinearticles, books and other products are amazon and clickbank feeds. I think with a simple rss to html tool you could regenerate the majority of the pages.

The only ones I can't figure out how they are done is the forum w(which looks like a full forum that get populated with Yahoo questions. Then I also can't figure out how all the rotating content on the front page is done for example the video that changes everytime you refresh and it is obviously targeted to the niche.

Just my thoughts. It is a super cool site and sold for 275 or something. That is a pretty nice profit if it is in fact an auto generated site.

It kind of reminds me of the 5 minute mini sites by Cam but has some other features.

Anyone know?

The forum is definitely PunBB (check out the forum admin screens). The code is not obviously from any product I know. If I can't figure it out in the morning, I'll just email the owner on the slim chance that he'll (she'll) tell me.

In regards to PunBB I am not very familiar with it. The thing I noticed was look at how many posts are in the forum. That forum looks like it has been active for a long time. Yet the site has no traffic. So obviously it is pulling content from somwhere into PunBB. At least I would thin that's what it is since I have no idea what PunBB is.

Yea, I've been watching this guy's sites sell for pretty good money on SP and wondered about them. If it's some sort of template I'd be interested in knowing the details. I was ready to hire a coder to build me something like it.

Yeah those sites are awesome.
If you do hire a coder to make you one of these please keep us informed about the result.

I was kind of thinking along the lines of hiring a coder and creating some kind of online installer for these types of sties. He is making good money and the sites look great so it def. caught my attenion.

No one seems to know what he is using to create these though? I thought someone here must know but maybe he programmed it himself.

In terms of hiring a coder to create something like this any idea how much that might cost? I know not absoulte but price range? Is it like 500, 1,000, 5,000 or 10,000. If I ave enough capital I am thinking about trying that. I could see the potential, you could start by selling sites, then you could also sell the script in limited numbers for a while and then flip the whole thing software, website selling and script selling business for a pretty profit I would imagine.

Now no one steal my idea! And if anyone has capital let me know!

Oh and one more thing if anyone knows the script used to generate the site or can even figure out parts of it please let me or us know.

For example I know the "News" tab is an rss feed from Google news search feature. Pretty easy one there. The "articles" tab is a rss feed from ezinearticles.com. The "Books and Videos" tabs are simply rss feeds from amazon's affiliate program. "Auctions" tab is from ebay affiliate feed of course and the best sellers again uses amazon feeds. The products tab is amazon widgets page. The blog tab is an rss video feed from youtube but would also make sense to use google Blog search feed in place of that. That really nails most of the pages. The only ones that ar a mystery to me are the Forum and how the content gets rotated on the front page. Maybe it is just a simple rotation tool like people used to put on the front of an article website so each time it was reloaded a new article would appear? So that would just leave figuring out how the forum was done. It does look like a copy of PunBB. Not sure if the content is from Yahoo answers or not. Have to look more into PunBB.

Anyway anyone else have ideas on how all of it is done and with what tool?

It looks like some CMS. All of the sections have the same class (widget-container). It could be a custom one he built, or more likely it's an open source CMS that he stripped all branding off of.

According to him this is a proprietary code base. I have initiated some conversation with him, although he is reluctant to license it. I have been doing a lot of BANS but I would like some sites that have a little more variety to them, and having a programmer put something together should be relatively straightforward.

Niches - feel free to PM me. I'm thinking about putting something together as a script. If I can't license it from this developer I can build it from scratch and avoid copywrite issues.

Rebuilding something like this from scratch is unnecessary. It would be pretty easy to build a site like that using Drupal, and I'm sure there are other CMSes that can do it too. He's just loading a bunch of feeds and redisplaying them.
