I run a wordpress blog and I want to offer a way for people to get news updates. What service take care of subscribers and allow me to mass email subscribers about a new post? A free service would be great. Or should I just do it over twitter?

Use a newsletter plugin and send out one to your members.

I found a plugin called JetPack, it is free and it uses wordpress.com to manage subscription and even does the emailing for you so you dont have to worry about service resources and less likely be marked as spam.

Mailchimp is the easiest free option to set up and get going straight away. Set up a mailchimp account and integrate it to a contact form. optimiser or just a mail chimp widget.

Duffers, do you recommend them over AWeber?
Would be grateful for your opinion.

Can't fault Mailchimp. Easy to use, great inboxing rate and an excellent tracking system to see whos clicking your links. I am only sending out targeted lists to 500 people so It suits me fine.

If you have a big 20K-50K list then aweber works out much cheaper, but Mailchimp is free to 2000 subscribers.

Thanks for the recommendation, will have a look and see how it compares but if it is free up to 2000 subs then it should suit me.
    Cheers
