Hi everyone, my name is Alex, I'm 35 and already feeling tired of working for someone else, on their terms and having ups and downs in my workload, working with clients from different timezones and other corporate stuff. This year I realized I still have 30 years to go. This makes me very concerned some days.
Now I got 2 remote jobs: I'm a Business Analyst and Product Owner in 2 EU companies. I'm not worried about AI in my field of work, it actually makes the jobs easier. Most days I work 4 hours in total.
In 2023 I created a Shopify store, I tried a lot of products, from different industries, I was just burning thousands of dollars on Facebook ads, with very little sales. I tried copywriting, linkedin ghostwriting, was unable to get clients. Recently I created an AI receptionist, I aim it at home service providers from the US: plumbing and electrical small/medium companies. I have tried email, cold calling companies I found on Google Maps, no clients in 2 weeks.
I also created a fitness app, a hiking app to generate hiking plans using existing trails and a unity based game with a little snowman, was stuck on publishing them, as Google Store wanted a lot of users to test them in the beginning, before publishing.
I am starting to believe I will be stuck in the corporate world for the rest of my life, with the ocasional vacation and travel while doing some work.
So, considering my brief description above, regarding my background, what I tried and failed, what should I do? What business/activity should I try, in order to suceed? What would you do if you were in my place?
I can allocate 10-20 hours per week to a new activity, and I can invest money, no problem, but I would prefer to keep it to a minimum at the beginning, until I see some money in, then I could invest tens of thousands.
I am not a fan of the "hustle mentality", I think I was never a hard worker, actually I became somewhat lazy as a person, considering that I tried a bunch of things that did not work. What would you try next?
