don't laugh, but doing nothing for your ons-site makes the most sense; you apparently have hit a sweet spot for your on-site optimization
as for backlink, gradually build branded anchors or anchors like: click here, visit here, website...
for a difficult keyword i am still sitting at #1, and have not touched that page for over 2 years. other pages that I keep playing with, keep fluctuating.

You're already #1, you don't have to hustle to get to the top anymore. I wouldn't advise fucking with the page unless you're adding more content, even then you could get a drop, especially if your rankings are newish. Your on-page is good to go, that's why you're ranking so to stay there work more on the off-page. Get links that are more powerful, hard or more expensive to get. Stuff that your competition wouldn't be able to copy or easily replicate.

Depends on your niche, if you are selling something, attack one by one. First check them for vulns, if you find some hack and make public, deface their website so everybody sees that they are amateurs, but do it anonymously. If this does not success, attack them with ddos, it takes about a week offline until they go back in ranking, or attack them long term to make surfing their site very unpleasent for visitors. Google will then throw them down.
Or attack two diffrent competitors and try to get them think that they attack each other, they will fuck up themself while you can watch and smile
Fake reviews like trustpilot shit are also done easy and bring often many trouble to competitors. There is so much you can do, simply start your brain.
