Hi all. Just looking for some advice regarding a .travel domain I have just taken over. It is a country based domain name ie country.travel and I just don't want to waste a good opportunity to put it to use! Some others have said park it and put adverts on it but does this really work these days?

Any guidance would be very much appreciated.

Make a affiliate website where people can book hotels in that country?

Better to auction it, or hold it until someone inquired to buy that domain. Earning with parking isn't easy.

Unless you got some great unique things to add about that country's tourism attractions, I would not bother with affiliates or such.

The main search engine has completely taken over the tourism sector. They list their own travel solutions at the top, as well as travel affiliates on the results (masqueraded as real results, they get commission).

A country travel guide would be the best option, although I'm not quite sure that a .travel domain would be any better than any other domain.

Contact that countries tourism board. I'm sure you can get at least $50 out of it.

You can build a startup business about travel content and news. Then join affiliate or sell the whole your business.

For example, you can start a blog and post content related to the domain. At least I would do so. That is a traditional way to monetize the domain, but it still works, fortunately.

Start a website with the most visited places in that country -> then try to get some deals/comisions from local businesses in that area

Affiliate would be your go or else make a blog for tips and things to carry/visit and use Adsense for monetization
