Fuck all these shitty ideas. $500 to invest is not enough to make putting it towards anything worthwhile in the long run, unless you have the ambition to see it through. The fact that you currently have no idea what to do with it shows you have no goals other than to have your money make money for you.
Go get Codecademy Pro for $20 a month and spend the next year learning full stack web development. Make a solid portfolio of work, then go get a job somewhere. You'll make that $500 and then some within a week.

I must fully agree with Sherbert. Maybe the best investment of you $500 is in yourself. I think that you can multiply this sum after a few months, if you spend some time learning photoshop. Being a graphic designer will open many doors to you and you can make a good living out of it, if you know how.
