So I have been asked to help with a site that was making huge money 8 years ago, the people who own it know zero about webdesign or even running a website. They have coasted on the huge amounts of traffic which drops monthly because of lack of adding original content and seo etc. Website is over 16 years old and a giant in it's niche.
My question is they want free help, I'm helping because I see a potential benefit for myself and to help them because at some point they will have zero traffic. They are using google adsense but in a horrible way so only making about 1500 per month currently and could easily be making more.
The niche it's in effects about 40% of the planet. It's a wordpress site with a forum however the forum is where all the major traffic flows in. I guess I'm wondering if anyone has ideas for me to get them to partner with me. They don't understand checking adsense and looking at your forum once a day is NOT going to build a growing website. They also can't afford to pay me, I actually fell into their lap by luck. I have been updating things here and there but nothing major because I'm not working for free but I see an opportunity I'm just not sure howto execute it without pissing them off. The traffic is dropping little by little.
Also as a final question what do you think this site is worth money wise if I offered to cash them out?
