What to do while waiting on links to boost ranking?

I'm currently trying to make an amazon affiliate site. Originally my plan was to target some low comp kws and write articles on each of them within the niche. Then get some SEO services to rank them. But I'm quickly realizing each article takes time to rank even with PBNs. Since it's around 2 weeks to a month to see the effects of my seo service purchases, I'm stuck waiting.

What can I do in this time? I just wanted to target one article at a time, rank on page 1, then move on. A very tight money site I could manage page by page. But the delay is making this a very long method. What do you do in that timeframe? I could make more articles but they wouldn't have links and would most definitely not rank highly.

If I we're in your shoes, I will start another niche site and alternate between the two
 
See that's valid, but I really want to stick with one site and grow it out. The niche has a lot of growth, I have lots of keywords I can chase. But I'm relying on paid seo services and I want to make sure I find ones that actually work. I can't quite afford to boost more articles than two or three a month. It's just that waiting time to see which work so I can repeat that's really killing my plans.
 
Learn SEO? Maybe in the future, you won't need to purchase any more services.

From my experience, your site needs at least a few pages before it starts to perform well. More so if you are not using expired / older domains with a high DA already.

If your domain is new and you are trying to rank each page before you start working on another, it might actually take a lot longer.

If I were building small niche sites, I would build a 30 to 50 page site - while building links to each page - and then start working on another site.
 
Build 2 - 5 other sites in the same niche you are targeting at present moment. You never know which one of them will perform better. Sometimes google favors specific site without obvious reason. All metrics being equal it will be much easier to rank best performing site.

By using this tactics you will have less headache if your MS gets a penalty. Don't put all eggs in one basket.
 
Make a new site and start working on that. Patience is everything :)

Content is my favorite thing to write while I'm waiting. It's easier to do over the long run than over a day or two.

Alternatively, make backlinks - find sites that make sense for backlinks, and post a few every day. Works better if you don't do it all at once, imho.
 
Build one more site in the same niche and go SEO berserk on it. Test out everything you can on it. See what happens. Learn . Apply on main site.
 
What should you do is to create some web 2.0 blogs, fill them with content and use them to rank this sites and another you will have...create a pbn from web 2.0 blogs
 
There is so much link building you can do for free, just go out there and learn.
