Ok. so.. today i had a meeting with my boss and he made me a great offer... i put a digital business idea, he puts the money it takes.
Also i have 2 days to come up with something well structured.

I live in Mexico so maybe you guys from other countries have some great businesses that we don't.

We talked about dating sites and other kind of social sites... this was 20 minutes ago so i dont really have anything structured yet.

Any ideas from the great bhw minds? :)

haha yea me too...

i was thinking something more like a platform or a certain kind of webpage...
I was looking around new sites in Mexico and there is this guy who recently managed to build some video streaming site (using joomla) and he is selling every "Exclusive channel" for 10,000 USD just to own the channel and a 3,000USD monthly rent.
He sells the idea by convincing his customers that traditional TV viewers are migrating to Internet TV.

He has around 10 channels now streaming on his site. Thats 100,000 USD + 30,000 more every month...

I guess he found some dumb customers. $10k setup + $3k/month and the customer will have to spend additional money on creating videos to be displayed on the channel. I am guessing since its a "exclusive channel" that there must be multiple videos. Customer will have to spend on creating videos, paying $10k setup and $3k/rent to have his videos on some unknown site without any traffic.

Yeah thats what I'm thinking.

Who is his market that hes driving traffic to the site? (I'm assuming he's at least providing SEO for 3k a month)

Who are his clients paying that kinda dough?h Offline brick & mortar Biz owners?

First of all.. this thread is not about the tv channel webpage... that was just an example for what im looking for, a business opportunity. I'm not talkin sh about the guy who made that site, in fact im putting him as a reference for what i want to do.. Find a good niche of unattended market to go for in a new concept of webpage.

Threadless, fiverr, groupon are some other good examples that are leading me into new business concepts for the Mexican market. :)

Your "2 days to come up with something well structured" has expired, what did you come up with?

Just curious

Well i came up with 3 differents ideas, they liked em all and tomorrow we're going to decide wich one to start with.
1st. is a dating site. Can't give all the info but the main difference from the rest.. is that you get to arrange the "perfect date" depending on what they both like.
2nd. a community for designers. They get to upload all their work and the best designs get to become real (in a t-shirt, a notebook, a print)
3rd. Something like fiverr.

i have some others now but those 3 are the ones i came up with in the 2 days they gave me... i also had to present all the "numbers" so i really had no time.

Im still up for new ideas thought:)

Well.. just an idea but i have a dating site that it already started and backlinked and promoted.
just sayin'
but maybe a dating site that is multi-lingual and user friendly..
may be interested in it.

All the best here are some ideas that you might use of.

How about a site that pin points all the best places to eat in each city and or town/village etc. Kind of like a Wikipeadia run by the people for the people all about food.
Monetise with adsense and impression banners etc.

I dont know... thats all I can come up with for now.

One thing I would suggest, is finding a market gap before finding a product to sell.

Yea i love that one(geo places), i even found a great wp theme that already does all that so it shouldn't be any trouble to build it. (so i might just do it on my own).

About the market gap, i totally agree.. the thing is, there are plenty... and something i've noticed, is that whatever works in the U.S. for example, works in Mexico 2 years after.
Thats why im looking for fresh ideas in other countries :)

The dating site one.. i think it would be hard to compete with it as a "social network for making new friends" cuz there are plenty already.. thats why im trying to make it not just to find someone to chat and flirt with, but to bring out the relationship to real life by making the "perfect date" for them, depending of what their lifestyle preferences.

Sounds like you're busy.

I don't have any good ideas for the Mexican market (don't know enough
about it) but I suspect the video hosting model that you first alluded to
is worth a stab, perhaps in another industry that does not directly compete
with the operation of your friend. I'd give serious thought to repurposing his
model for another niche or industry.

I say this because video is and has been hot at least in Europe and North
America right now, and even in Sud America where I spend six months per
year. Plus your friend already has the winning formula.

buenas suerte

:D

Actually you're right.. online video is hot and will be growing the next couple of years... ill be thinking of a good niche or industry to take advantage of this :)
